The four murals that make up the Rencontres series are composed of simple graphics that suggest depth and recognizable Montreal patterns. The murals ornate the walls of the new BNP Paribas offices in Montreal. On the murals appear the patterns as well as abstract treatments, made of simple shapes. The motifs shown illustrate 4 cultural meetings between France and Quebec on the threshold of modernity: the French architect Roger Taillibert who designed the Olympic stadium; Expo 67 whose title is inspired by the book “Terre des hommes” by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry; the tribute to Gustave Eiffel overhanging the ends of the turrets of the Jacques-Cartier bridge (unofficial tribute); the lily flowers on the Quebec flag.
