Interiors

The mural Interiors, ovelooking a children’s playground, is inspired by a painting realized in 2012.

The desert evokes a contemplative approach to the landscape and the mural. The glass ceiling of this 19th century museum, evokes a pivotal moment in the history of painting. At that time, romantic painting and art in general went from a private practice, essentially reserved for dominant classes to something public. Painting became something universal and addressed directly the masses in large cities. These museums, these new spaces allow the society to exhibit to this new public the artfacts and riches of its past and its colonies. In the mural, the background structure seems detached from the other parts, it evokes the constructed aspect of reality.

The silhouette of a walker, perhaps Baudelaire’s flâneur, or maybe a just a shopper looking for a new flat-screen TV , this recurring character is the individual whose movement marks a specific human trajectory.
