Imaco, A Drawing Laboratory
Gathered by topics or ordered in clusters, the drawings of Melanie Baillairgé, Francisco Sottolichio and Rafael Sottolichio offer a critical and original glance on mass media. With the afflicting state of mass media as a backdrop, the members of Imaco propose a personal glance in the form of a drawing laboratory. Drawing becomes here a way of rapidly presenting visual content, notes in the visual environment. Having strong bonds with commercial art, the three creators offer an alternative to images created from of A to Z to convince and sell.
Detached from the weight of industry, drawing can present ambiguous readings and confront the social fabric. And in so doing, speak with the individual and not with the consumer.
