Persistence of Vision

These drawings were made several weeks after September 11th, 2001. Working always from images, I surround myself with pictures, I make thousands a year, that I classify and organized into categories in ordered folders. I constantly go back to my archives, trying to immerse myself in my own images. The images of the terrorist attacks in New York imposed themselves on my own pictures making me blind to any image’s potential for a few weeks. A trip to Ottawa to see a Gustav Klimt exhibition was lost, I saw nothing, I don’t remember anything. A series of images overflowing with pathos invaded the field of my vision. These cathartic drawings were published in the Revue Le Quartanier in 2003.
